Spaghetti
Pie
Here's a variation of spaghetti made in a pie plate. You can cut it easily into 'pie' slices for serving and it looks nice. This recipe is simple to make and the spaghetti with the parmesan cheese mixed together for the 'crust' gives it a wonderful taste.
6
oz spaghetti
2
Tablespoons butter
1/3
cup grated parmesan cheese
2 well-beaten
eggs
1 cup cottage
cheese (8 oz) optional
1 lb. ground meat
½ cup chopped
onion
¼ cup chopped
green pepper
1 8oz can
tomatoes
1 6 oz can tomato
paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tsp dried
oregano
½ teaspoon garlic
salt
½ cup shredded
mozzarella cheese (2 ozs)
Cook spaghetti as
normal – drain. Stir butter into hot
spaghetti. Stir in parmesan cheese and eggs.
Butter a 10 inch pie plate. Pour
mixture in the bottom of pie plate to make the “crust”. Spread cottage cheese over bottom of
spaghetti crust.
In skillet cook
ground beef, onion, and green pepper until meat is done and vegetables are
tender; drain fat out of pan. Stir in
tomatoes and liquid, then add tomato paste, sugar, oregano and garlic
salt. Heat throughout.
Pour meat mixture
over spaghetti crust. Bake uncovered 350
degrees for 20 minutes. Sprinkle
mozzarella cheese on top then bake 5 minutes longer or till cheese is melted. Cut in pie pieces to serve.
