“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is nobody else who is you-er than you.”  ~Dr. Seuss

Ah, Dr. Seuss has such a poetic way with words.  There’s always that simple truth in his rhyme.  If only we all knew how valuable and special we are by just being ourselves.  We are truly unique. What a fantastic gift from God.
It reminds me of a numbered piece of art.  There isn’t another one exactly like it.  And by being unique, it becomes a lot more valuable.
“Since I am me, I tend to focus on the mistakes I see in me.  Sometimes I don’t want to be me, and thank goodness no one is me-er than me!”  This is a direct quote from … ME!  I think it might be scary if someone was me-er than me.   Look out world!
So why are we so hard on ourselves?   It’s that insecurity and self-doubt thing that always creeps up and keeps us from seeing the great person we are.
Do you ever feel life would be much easier if you were in someone else’s shoes?  Or do you ever look in the mirror and think, “Wow, if only I could change a few things with my appearance, I could look a lot better.”  Some people are so obsessed in having a different appearance that they spend thousands of dollars with plastic surgery.
If you look close enough, every piece of art has its flaws.  But if you stand back and see the whole picture, it all comes together as a true masterpiece!  Who really notices the mistakes?  Sometimes the “mistakes” aren’t really mistakes.  Maybe this is the way the artist intended the picture to look.  Sometimes “mistakes” happen for a reason. It can help build character and turn into something more meaningful. Can you turn your flaws into something meaningful?  It’s not always easy to do.
Yes, there will always be the “flaw-finders” out there who are quick to point out what’s wrong … as if they are the experts!   On the other hand, our true friends give us constructive feedback that can help us improve ourselves.  One has to separate the flaw-finders from the friends.  When you think about it, you probably know how to distinguish the two already.  Try to surround yourself with people who want the best for you, not those who want to put you down.
So next time you are dwelling on your appearance, take a step back and try to focus on what you have to offer.  Be glad you are YOU!  Walk around with a smile.  A smile can portray a thousand vibrant colors!  See the whole picture and find your personal strengths.  Everyone in life has something to offer to society, just by being YOU!
For you are you and I am me.
What better way for us to be!
I like who I am and I must agree.
I choose to be happy because I am me!

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.   Ephesians 1:4
