Serenity by the Seashore

I love decorating with lighthouses, seashells, and the serene color blue.  It reminds me of the coast of Texas.  Love listening to the roaring sound of the water, the ripple of the waves, and the white seagulls searching for food along the beach.  Looking out over the water that leads to the Gulf of Mexico, it all seems so grand and majestic.  It goes on forever.  All you see in the distance is a solid horizontal line, where the blue of the sea meets the blue of the sky.  There’s a sense of mystification as to what lies underneath those dark blue waters.  Waters that’s a home to so many creatures big and small.  We’re so different in our world here on land than the world in the sea, but are we really that different?

We are all trying to carry out our daily routines to prosper and survive in a world full of uncertainty and sometimes even danger.  Just like the sea creatures not knowing what they might encounter at any given time --  so is the doubt in our lives.

If you think about it long enough, you might wonder how we even manage to survive with everything going on in our world today, and in our personal lives.  You might ask, “What keeps us from being swallowed up by things out of our control?”  I’m sure everyone of us has had a time where we felt a loss of control.  Or maybe a feeling that our country is losing control.  It can be a scary thing when you think about it.  But we have to remember that Jesus has reassured us, “In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

There is a greater, GOOD power (the Holy Spirit) in this universe that in the end, will overcome the BAD.  This faith is what keeps us grounded.  For me, it helps put the serenity and purpose back into my world.
